Our concert is book- ended by two Bernstein works: the immensely popular Candide Overture to open and, closing the concert, West side story: Symphonic dances – a suite of music from the now legendary Broadway musical. Sprinkled between are various Copland dances from Rodeo. Barber’s idyllic Knoxville: summer of 1915, text based on text a short work by James Agee, will feature soprano, Jennifer Russo who recently completed an advanced diploma in vocal performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music.
